Welcome. I'm Deena, a Nationally Certified Alexander Technique Teacher based in Los Angeles, California. I'm passionate about lasting solutions to the pain, tension, and posture problems many of us are suffering from in this day and age. Whether you're at the office, about to get on stage, recovering from an injury, or simply interested in self-improvement and longevity, I'm here to be on your team.
WHAT IS IT?
The Alexander Technique is a mindful, movement education that teaches us how to undo harmful patterns of tension and allow us to move with greater ease and improved coordination.
The teacher uses light hands-on guidance through movement to help the student examine the harmful habits that cause misuse and learn to move more efficiently in every day activities.
This method of self care ideally goes beyond the lessons with your teacher and becomes a practice and a discipline you incorporate int your every day life.
Developed over 100 years ago by an Australian actor, F.M. Alexander, the Alexander Technique is now widely taught internationally by over 2500 teachers in schools, university faculties (especially the performing arts) and now the workplace, where extensive computer use has caused a universal increase in repetitive strain injuries.
WHO AM I?
I'm a vocalist and musician who suffered from three years of chronic pain from my neck down my right arm, the problem became debilitating and I thought I would never be able to use my right hand again. In 2009, I found Alexander Technique and finally found relief. Plus other things got better too; my singing voice improved, my coordination and circulation got better, and I was finally able to get a good night's sleep. I decided to become a teacher and help others find real, practical, and lasting solutions. I specialize in working with performers and people in chronic pain, and also provide ergonomic office consultations to promote better working environments.
